Catalogue of Live Animal and Meat Importers in MENA
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) region is rich in livestock resources with an estimated 360 million ruminants. In 2017, the region exported some 10 million heads of live animals and 41,000 MT of meat to Middle East and North Africa (MENA) which represents about 50% and 10% of annual demand in MENA respectively. This live animals and meat importers' catalogue, compiled from three major importing countries (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; United Arab Emirates and Egypt), is meant to help new exporters or existing exporters of live animals and meat to establish contacts and linkages. It is expected such contacts will enable new comers to start while those already in the trade will have an opportunity to expand markets with minimal hassle and cost in relatively shorter period.
